Welcome to
The Friends of Women, Environment, and Health.
We are a group of individuals in the United States brought together through our friendship with Ruth Musunu Titi Manyaka of Cameroon in Central Africa. When we learned that Ruth was working with village women, orphans, vulnerable children and families affected by AIDS, we decided to help her and the women who work with her.
They had founded, Women, Environment and Health (WEH), a decade ago. So, in 2007, we started Friends of Women, Environment and Health in the United States.
Our top priority is to keep as many orphans in school as we can.
The approximately 500 orphans and vulnerable children that WEH oversees are being raised by relatives or other village families. For many of those families, the cost of school tuition, books, and uniforms is more than they can afford. What hope can there be for a children if they can't go to school?
Our other goals are to assist Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, in its biennial nursing internships in Cameroon, to help WEH raise the status of women in any way possible, and to help WEH develop a vocational center for women and orphans.
Four of our board members -- Carol Hosler, David Groff, Sherry Archer, and Barbara Stone -- spent January, 2009, in Cameroon. Several of them will do so again in January 2011.
Would you like to support an orphan in school, or make a donation so that we can meet our other goals?
How to make a contribution. All contributions are tax deductable. Because we have virtually no overhead, you can be confident that your contribution directly helps WEH's clientele in Cameroon.
