Report of the Online Annual Meeting, April 1-5, 2009
All board members were present at some point in time during the course of the meeting.
The President and Treasurer presented the following reports:
President's Report
Treasurer's Report
The following slate of officers was elected:
David Groff, President (effective July 1)
Sherry Archer, vice-president
Carol Hosler, treasurer/statutory agent of the corporation
Katie White, a 2009 Linfield nursing student visiting Cameroon, was confirmed as a member of the board representing Team Cameroon 2009.
Carol reported on the truck. WEH finally got it through customs and are very grateful for it. Much to our surprise and frustration, costs for getting the car through customs and paying the customs broker exceeded an additional $5000. The board pledged to raise the money through personal donations and selected requests as quickly as possible.
The Board confirmed the importance of a periodic newsletter and pledged to get as many email addresses to Carol as possible. Carol will work on a new edition with other board members contributing.
Now that the truck is in the hands of WEH, our focus shifts. The Board confirmed the following priorities:
- Seeking regular monthly donations so we can
- support the cost of gasoline and maintenance for the truck;
- provide funds for periodic distribution of beans//rice/salt etc. to those caring for orphans (the government is no longer providing this support)'
- Seek supporters who will pledge to support the vocational training of WEH orphans. Sherry is coordinating this effort.
- Continue partnering with Linfield College School of Nursing.
- Support in anyway we can WEH's dream of having a center for vocational training.
Fundraising efforts
- Ongoing support from our donors will be solicited through the newsletter;
- All board members will seek to expand the donor base through their networks of family, friends, and associates, and will encourage monthly pledges for our ongoing support of WEH;
- Carol and Barb will continue to research avenues through which major grants could be sought for WEH's vocational center.
